nsfw content

Hi everyone,

This forum allows NSFW content, but it hasn't been clarified whether it should be separated from SFW content, i.e. on a per-thread or per-forum basis.

Separating NSFW from SFW would allow minors to participate in the SFW parts.

How would you all like to see it handled?

There's a third option you haven't thought of.
We could also make the whole forum majors only.
I don't expect that option to be picked by a majority of users but just in case, it's what I would favor.

that is one of the possible options, I'm hoping to get as much feedback as possible tbh to see what most people prefer

I would be in favor of a no minors policy tbh , the slow merge of adult and child spaces on the internet is what got us to the point of all that "is mdni bad" drama , making a majors only space like in the old times would probably be the easiest and best solution

for context, there's already minors frequenting this forum, so this is also a decision about whether to ban them or not.

I mean the way id handle that would just be like, trust the user that they're an adult but if they ever reveal that they're a minor they get banned
obviously it'd suck to ban already registered minors, but it would really be the easiest way to handle it

there's two factors to this, the site is public and indexed with zero gating whatsoever. if there is an uptick of nsfw content especially graphical there may be retribution from the server provider or domain registrar. the second factor is minors causing legal issues just by presence alone.

so ideally it would be a separate board that's restricted to registered users, if not a whole opt-in group that screens out minors on a trust based system.

(also ip block the uk if you want to do it properly i guess)

edit: separate board not forum
edit 2: spelling + grammar.

ah yeah the domain registrar/vps thing is a valid point

but my main concern with having a separate nsfw board is that we'd have to decide what counts as nsfw, because inevitably people will make jokes that could be seen as nsfw, and we'll have to moderate those which obviously takes more effort than just having the whole forum be nsfw

such is the life of a content moderator. in either route-- ban minors or segregate them, nsfw content being public is a whole issue in itself which is very frustrating.

though, text nsfw seems to evade most things.

yeah seems like with every solution we can't win :neocat_woozy:

for me both solutions would work out, though I do have a slight preference to a full minor ban simply because I'd enjoy an adult only space
